Hailing from the home of heavy metal, Birmingham's Redline bring a new twist to the classic rock genre. If you're looking for an 80's throwback band, don't look any further than these guys.

Your last album contained King Of The Mountain which is used on the worldwide T.T. racing coverage. Has this changed things for the band?

We wrote the track as a tribute to the bravery of the riders who take part in what is the most exciting, and dangerous, motorcycle road race in the world. It is great to have received recognition for this as we are all bikers and huge fans of the Isle Of Man TT Races. This year we were asked to headline at the TT Races by the Isle of Man Government which was quite an honour. It was a real rush playing King Of The Mountain live to all the dedicated TT fans. The song has been the closing track on all the TV broadcasts of the event that has been shown in over 83 countries worldwide, this has helped to open other doors for us, one of which is just coming to fruition. Tracks from our album VICE are being used exclusively as the soundtrack on a new motorcycle themed Pinball Machine called 'FULL THROTTLE'. This game is manufactured by UK company Heighway Pinball and is going into full production in November 2014.

You have a very '80s' style. Who are the main influences behind your style?

We love all the music from that period. Van Halen, Journey, Saxon of course, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC and early hard rock pioneers Y&T who we are supporting in Manchester at the Academy next month on November 4th. It's Y&T's 40th anniversary so we are really excited about the chance to get on the same stage as one of our heroes!

Being a rock/metal band from Birmingham, do you feel any pressure to live up to the legendary bands that have been born in and around the city?

Not at all, it's very inspirational and motivating to be associated with such an iconic city for rock and metal music. It's a real privilege to be able to say that Redline are from the same musical birthplace as Black Sabbath and Judas Priest

You're doing a show at The Asylum in Birmingham on 17th October 2014. Why should people be coming to see you live?

If you like the sort of bands we've been mentioning, and you like hard driving, riff laden rock, then one of our shows will get the adrenaline going and put a huge grin on your face.

You toured with Saxon last year, how was it to be opening the bill with those guys?

Saxon are awesome live. If you've never seen one of their shows, do yourself a favour and go! The guys project tremendous power and energy! All of Saxon, from Biff, who watched us play and gave us some great words of wisdom, right through to their German sound crew who recorded our sets for us, were helpful, supportive and a real pleasure to hang out with.

What does the next 12 months hold for Redline?

We will be doing a number of gigs around the country and helping launch the Pinball Game 'Full Throttle', but mainly we will be concentrating on writing our next album.

Playing God for a minute, if you could play any venue/festival in the world, where would you play? And who would you have on the bill?

Well on a personal note we feel we have sort of already played it in some ways. Being at the TT Festival and playing to all the race fans was a real sweet spot for us, as well as playing at the legendary Shepherds Bush Empire with Saxon. One burning ambition is that we've always wanted to play a really big open air rock and metal festival like Wacken in Germany or maybe River Plate in Rio. We'd want all the bands we love to be there but the festival would have to go on for weeks to fit them all in. We'd want without question AC/DC, Y&T, Saxon, Chickenfoot, Journey, Alter Bridge, Judas Priest, Metallica, Black Sabbath and Dream Theatre. It would be great to have a show with such an eclectic mix of top bands.

Thanks for taking the time to talk to us! We look forward to seeing you live and also for the new album.

Thanks for talking to us Daniel. Its been fun and a real pleasure.
