After hearing the debut EP from North Seasons (read our review here) we thought it'd be a great idea to have a chat with the guys and see what they had to say. Have a read about their thoughts, opinions and who they think is the best looking member of the band.

Hi guys, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today. First off, tell us a bit about North Seasons.

Hey and thanks for wanting to talk to us, no one ever does. Well we’re just a couple of guys from the North East of England playing some metal together; we’ve been in different local bands before and then we got together and formed North Seasons.

Your debut EP ‘Eyes For The Blind' is released on 21st January 2015, we’ve had a listen and loved it, how do you guys feel about it and how was the recording process for you?

Thank you for the kind words! We spent about two and a half years writing and recording the mini album. We would finish a song then two days later tear it apart and completely re-write it. The writing and recording process all merged into one, some of the guitars and vocals on the record were tracked as far back as two years ago while some were done a week or two before we finished everything. Recording it ourselves gave us this freedom to find our sound and really work out what we wanted to do.

Is the writing a group effort or is it mainly one person doing it?

It’s always been more of a group effort, since we recorded everything ourselves we always demoed tracks and went back to review and change things. Everyone had their input; we’re all good at different things so we used it as an opportunity to play to our different strengths.

Can we expect a full length album in the not too distant future or are you likely to stick to the EP/mini album format?

You can definitely expect a full length from us, as to when we aren’t too sure. We’re always writing and improving and we think a full length is probably a better format to showcase all the different sides of North Seasons.

What has been the highlight of the North Seasons journey so far?

It would have to be going on tour in December; it was an amazing experience and definitely made us all realise how fun and fulfilling it is to be touring and playing every night to different people, whether they care about your band or not. For example the Manchester date on tour was probably a band favourite; it was our first ever show outside of Newcastle and the reception was insane.

How was the tour at the end of 2014?

We have only been on one short tour so far! Which took us up to a grand total of 6 shows, even though it was a short tour we loved it and it firmly made us believe that this is what we want to do for the rest of our lives.

Do you have anything set up for 2015 yet? We’re personally hoping for some Midlands dates!

Yeah, we’ve got a couple things for early 2015 like a mini-album release, then a video release for another single from the mini-album. We’re also working on a couple more tours right now and that’s as much as we can say for the time being but we are definitely going to get around in 2015.

You've previously said playing main stage at Leeds festival is one of the dreams for North Seasons, are festivals something you see as being important for the development of the band?

Of course! Festivals are the best advertisement a band could have; the chance to play to a completely new audience where many people will have no idea who you are, lots may not even like the genre but it's cool to have the opportunity to showcase yourselves to a brand new audience like that.

We can just about remember 2014, what was your highlight as a band?

As a band it would have to be playing our first show with Our Last Night and just hanging out with them after the show. They are one of our favourite bands and we're so grateful that we had the chance to do that.

We're currently running a couple of features on the site around 'top 10s'. What were your favourite albums and movies of 2014?

Fair to say Wolf Of Wall Street was a top film as well as The Interview, that was dead funny. As for albums, I would say that, as a collective Architects - Lost Forever // Lost Together, Volumes - No Sleep and the self-titled Issues record were some huge albums within our genre that we thought were awesome. We also loved the new records from PVRIS, Lower Than Atlantis and Marmozets, just to name a few.

Are there any bands from the Newcastle area that you think deserve a shout out?

Our good friends in My Extraordinary are an amazing band, how these dudes are not playing arenas yet and chowing down on caviar every night baffles us!

Finally, is there anything else you’d like the Mind Noise Network readers to know?

The band all agree that George is the most attractive member of the band.

We'll let the readers make their own minds up on that one. Thanks for taking the time out guys. Best of luck for 2015 and we hope to catch a show of yours soon.
