With numerous EPs and a debut album, Lost Gravity are starting to build a name for themselves. We caught up with them after their Camden Rocks set.

Thanks for taking the time to talk to us. Can you tell us a bit about Lost Gravity and your role in the band.

Breno Val: Thank you for having us here, Dan. My name is Breno - guitar and vocals.

Giuliano Kolling: Giuliano, drums.

David Whitmore: I’m David and I play the bass.

Breno: Lost Gravity is a heavy rock band. Our music is a mix of rock, metal and grunge. Our main influences are AC/DC, Metallica and Alice in Chains.

You recently played Camden Rocks 2015, how was your set?

Breno: It was awesome and we had a great time on stage! We played at the Barfly and it was packed! The crowd response was fantastic!

Giuliano: Yeah it was amazing to feel the energy of the crowd. It is always nice to have a full house while we’re rocking out on stage!

David: They loved our set and jumped the whole time. We loved it!

Had you played Camden Rocks or anything like it before?

Breno: Last year we played an all dayer festival in Luton but it was not as big as Camden Rocks. This is the biggest festival we have played to date and it was sold out!

You released your debut album last year, can you tell us a bit about it?

Breno: We released 3 EPs before back in 2008, 2009 and 2011 so we thought it was about time to have a full album recorded. Our debut album is called Lost Gravity and it came out on my label Priston Records last October. The album was recorded in 12 days by me and Giuliano only (David joined us in March ‘15). On the album I recorded the guitars, bass and vocals. Giuliano recorded the drums and backing vocals.

Giuliano: The drums were recorded in one day. Actually in just under 6 hours once we had all the mics set up!

Breno: Yeah and in some of the tracks the drums were recorded on the first take! It’s great to have a maestro in the band. (laughs)

Giuliano: Thanks! Breno did an amazing job recording guitar, bass and vocals.

Breno: That was intense! I remember there was one day I was in the studio for 19 hours non stop tracking guitars! I don’t think I’ll ever want to do another session like that. (laughs)

What kind of reception did the album get?

Breno: When the album came out we got some great reviews on the press, but personally the most important thing is the feedback that we have received from people who buy it. Their opinion means to me more than what the press say really. And their feedback has been fantastic!

Have you got more shows coming up?

Breno: Right now we don’t have any shows booked but we’re planning a UK tour for October. At the moment we are focused on planning, shooting and releasing another 3 videos for the next 3 months. Let’s see if we can meet our deadline. (laughs)

What can people expect at a Lost Gravity gig?

Breno: Rock’n’roll!

Giuliano: And energy, lots of energy.

David: Yeah, and intenseness.

Anything else planned for 2015? New material maybe?

Breno: As I said, the plan is to release more videos and go on tour. As for the new material, I have lots of new riffs recorded on my phone. I just can’t lose it otherwise we’re f***** (laughs). And lately at every rehearsal we have been jamming on new ideas as a full band. I think we will probably have our second album recorded sometime next year.

Thanks for taking the time out for this, any parting words?

Giuliano: Thank you, Dan.

David: Cheers.

Breno: Thanks again for having us here. I just would like say that our debut album is available on iTunes and Google Play. If you're reading this, download the album, learn the lyrics and next time we’re playing in a town near you, come to the show and sing along. Rock’n’roll!
